Sonru was announced winner of the Innovation and Technology Award at the Leinster final of the 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards at a ceremony in Dunboyne Castle on Wednesday last (January 26th). Sonru and the seven other winning businesses from the Leinster region, who were selected from a shortlist of 119 companies, will now go on to compete with the winners from the other provinces for the national title and individual category title at the all-island final in April.

An innovative new Irish company has attracted €800,000 in funding to drive the growth of its business at home and abroad. Founded by CEO Michael Phelan, Endeco Technologies has invented and developed a range of wireless smart energy management technologies which it is already selling into the retail sector and which can be seen at www.wirelitesensors.com . The investment in Endeco was led by the €53 million AIB Seed Capital Fund which is co-managed by Dublin BIC, the enterprise development organisation. Additional funding was raised through Enterprise Ireland and private investors.

The recently founded Clare Farm Heritage Tours Co-op is now offering guided tours of the beautiful and unique Burren environment with its abundance of archaeological monuments, pre-historical sites and examples of traditional farming. The co-operative of nine North Clare farmers continue a tradition of farming in the Burren which dates back over 6000 years. More than 100 archaeological sites and monuments have been identified throughout land currently farmed and managed by members of the co-op. With the establishment of the Clare Farm Heritage Tours Co-op, the landowners can now offer guided access to these sites and monuments, which are representative of the treasures of north Clare.
