The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD recently launched the Global Entrepreneurship Report for Ireland for 2012. The report shows that 19,000 people started new businesses in Ireland in 2012, and highlights the findings that new business start-ups are increasingly innovative and that the majority expect to find customers in export markets. The Report also shows that for the first time the growth aspirations among women entrepreneurs have considerably increased and the gender gap in this area has been almost eliminated.
A new Enterprise Ireland â¬375K Competitive Feasibility Fund aimed at stimulating new start-ups, or expansion of existing business activity in the aviation sector has just been launched. This fund, which can provide up to â¬25,000 per project, is now open for applications, and will remain open until Monday 16 September 2013.
19 award-winning students, who beat off competition at the National Finals of the Student Enterprise Awards, have secured places at the first ever âWinnersâ Bootcampâ in the Nexus Innovation Centre at the University of Limerick this summer. The inaugural four day business bootcamp runs from 4th to 7th June and is sponsored by Ulster Bank. The group of teenagers will receive mentoring from experienced entrepreneurs, as well as critical feedback from peers and experts. Sessions range from advice on delivering a business pitch thatâs got the âWowâ factor to business development and teambuilding activity.
The cut and thrust of real-life business will be high on the agenda for young entrepreneurs exhibiting their own Ã¢ÂÂreal-worldÃ¢ÂÂ successful businesses at this yearÃ¢ÂÂs 11th annual Student Enterprise Awards in Croke Park on April 17th. With support and resources from the local Enterprise Boards, this annual competition is the largest programme of its kind in Ireland with 15,000 students from over three hundred schools having participated since September.
Galway-based sales management software company, OnePageCRM, has announced that it will create 12 new jobs, as part of a €575,000 investment programme supported by Enterprise Ireland and other investors. The new hires will be in engineering roles for web and mobile technology, digital marketing and customer support. OnePageCRM is a cloud-based sales management application for SMEs with a worldwide proven method to greatly boost sales.
