Free Seminar On ‘Building a Business on Your Ideas’ Comes To Kilkenny

Patents OfficeMinister for Research and Innovation, Sean Sherlock TD, has urged businesses to avail of the opportunity to attend a Government sponsored free seminar, ‘Building a Business on Your Ideas’, to be held in The Parade Tower, Patrick's St, Kilkenny City on Thursday 5th May 2011.  The seminar, organised by the Patents Office, is for small business-owners, entrepreneurs, inventors and startup companies in Kilkenny and surrounding counties.

InterTradeIreland’s FUSION Programme Shortlisted For Two GradIreland Awards

InterTradeIrelandInterTradeIreland’s FUSION programme has been shortlisted for Best Graduate Training and Development Programme at this year’s GradIreland Awards. Two of their FUSION graduates have also been shortlisted for the Graduate Employee of the Year award. The FUSION programme hopes to regain the title of Best Graduate Training and Development Programme having won the same award last year. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which will take place on 13th April 2011 at the Mansion House, Dublin.

Irish SMEs Targetted By Scam Internet Directories

National Consumer AgencyIrish SMEs and sole traders are being targetted by scam internet directories, and we’ve highlighted the issue during the National Consumer Agency’s “Be Scam Savvy” campaign (#scamsavvy on Twitter). All business owners should be wary of any correspondence from companies with whom they have no record of having entered into arrangements with regarding such directories.

SFA Delegation Meets Minister for Small Business

SFAThe SFA Chairman, Ian Martin, at a recent meeting with the Minister for Small Business, John Perry, T.D., outlined to the Minister that the small business community need Government to “Restore and Reduce”. “It is critical that the restoration of access to credit is created for small firms along with restoring confidence to the economy. The Government also need to reduce business costs if firms are to survive, grow and create sustainable employment.”

Briefing For SME’s On How to Do Business In Europe

Irish Exporters AssociationAn event co-hosted by the Irish Exporters Association, Network Ireland and the European Parliament and Commission Representations in Ireland will provide an opportunity for SME’s to learn how to expand into European markets. Starting with highlighting the pitfalls and opportunities of exporting, guests will then hear a number of success stories from entrepreneurs and how each one broke into new markets. Information on bank support and what Europe is doing to support SMEs will also be provided.
