Recovery Gathers Pace With Professional Job Vacancies Up 21%

Morgan McKinley LogoThe recovery in the Irish economy has gained pace as evidenced by the big increase in professional jobs on offer according to the Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor for July 2014. The Monitor recorded a 21% increase in the number of vacancies in July 2014 compared to the same month last year according to Morgan McKinley Ireland Chief Operations Officer, Karen O'Flaherty.

2014 ESB Spark of Genius Award Open for Entries

ESB LogoIreland's brightest sparks are invited to compete for the 2014 ESB Spark of Genius Award at this year's Web Summit with a prize fund of over €25,000. Marguerite Sayers, Generation Manager, ESB joined Paddy Cosgrave, founder and CEO of Web Summit to announce details of this much coveted award, now in its 4th year. The ESB Spark of Genius award focuses on high potential technology start-ups and is open to any Irish start-up which has been in operation for less than 3 years and has received under €1 million in funding to date. Entrants will be judged on the uniqueness of their idea, their level of development thus far, and their potential for future growth.

Major Changes In Tendering Into Public Procurement Market

InterTradeIreland has today urged SMEs to prepare for changes to the way in which public sector services are tendered in Ireland in terms of new category structures and centralised Government purchasing through the Office of Government Procurement (OGP). The OGP was established in January 2014 with a key objective to optimise value for money through smarter tendering techniques. It will centralise all procurement expertise with individual bodies ceasing to publish their own invitations and expenditure in key areas, including professional services, ICT and HR, set to be consolidated.

National Development Finance Agency & Grangegorman Development Agency Partners With Enterprise Ireland For Construction Sector Information Event

The National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) and Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA) in partnership with Enterprise Ireland are running an information and networking event connecting local suppliers to opportunities in the construction sector as part of the €200m Central and East Quads development project in Grangegorman, Dublin 7. The Meet the Buyer event takes place on Wednesday 13 August 2014 in the CityWest Hotel, Saggart, Co. Dublin, at 9.15am. This free event is open to construction suppliers and enterprises in a wide variety of supply categories from aggregates to windows.

Offshore Oil and Gas – Major opportunities for Irish Suppliers

Pat Rabbitte TD, Minister for Communication, Energy and Natural Resources, today told over 70 companies and  100 participants how they can be supported in accessing major business opportunities linked to current  offshore oil and gas exploration activity.  He was speaking at an event organised by Enterprise Ireland and Achilles Group Ltd highlighting the opportunities for the Irish supply chain to win business linked to recent and future activity in offshore oil and gas.  Winning this business will position these companies to internationalise their offering in global markets and increase the volume of export business and new jobs for Ireland.
