CORKMEET 2013 is a 3-day International Business Networking Forum taking place in Cork, Ireland from 10-12 April at the Rochestown Park Hotel. This must attend event is open to Irish and international small and medium sized businesses from all sectors looking to expand into new markets or find a new partner. 5 April is the last day for registering.
Each business will be offered up to 16 pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings with companies of their choice in a speed networking format. These meeting will be pre-selected by delegates from the CORKMEET 2013 business catalogue available online.
600 companies are expected to avail of almost 10,000 individual meetings, thus initiating thousands of business partnerships between SME’s in Ireland and overseas.
These meetings will be complimented by an afternoon conference on Wed 10th April and a welcome event to facilitate further networking and informal meetings.
Deirdre O’Connor is a managing director in the Investment Management Division (IMD) at Goldman Sachs. She is responsible for $150 billion of assets under management. She is the controller of Goldman Sachs Investment Strategies, including Goldman Sachs Investment Partners hedge funds, private equity funds, mutual funds, Fundamental Equities and Quantitative Strategies. Deirdre is a member of the Goldman Sachs Asset Management valuation committee and is chair of the Finance Women’s Network at Goldman. She is a fellow at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Deirdre was named on the Wall Street Top 50 list in 2012 by American Ireland magazine. She was named on the Sunday Independent’s list of most powerful Irish women in business.
Prior to joining Goldman, Deirdre held several Global and North America derivatives positions at Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan.
Deirdre is from Cobh, Co. Cork and studied accounting at the Cork Institute of Technology.
She is a board member of the Women’s Initiative for self employment and is an advisory board member for GOAL USA. She is senior advisor to the Board of the Financial Women’s Association. She lives in New York City with her husband, Feargall, and their three children.
Susan Hayes is Managing Director of Hayes Culleton and co-author of the very recently published “Positive Economics”, a Leaving Certificate Economics textbook and “The Savvy Woman’s Guide to Financial Freedom” with Penguin Ireland.
Hayes Culleton Ltd is an international financial training company that specialises in eLearning development and delivery. Susan introduced the company to the international markets in 2011 and was nominated for the Enterprise Europe Network Rising Star Awards last year. In 2008, she wrote a digitised module called “Introducing Wall Street to the Classroom” to make the stock market approachable and accessible for second level students. Susan regularly contributes to the national and international media including The Sunday Times (Malta), Irish Post (UK), RTE, Newstalk and Today FM (Ireland), as “The Positive Economist” on matters relating to economics, the stock market and entrepreneurship.
