Staff at Clonmel Chamber are working with the counterparts in the Chamber of Commerce in twinned town Reading to identify opportunities for Clonmel businesses in the south east of England. Chamber CEO Brian Cleary recently spent two days with the Chamber in Reading and held discussions with his counterpart in Thames Valley Chamber.
The Thames Valley region is one of the wealthiest in Europe and has a direct workforce of 3.7 million people within an hour of the region. It presents a wide range of opportunities for Clonmel Chamber members.
“This region has much to offer our members. It is on the doorstep of London and is a vibrant economy in its own right. The Thames Valley economy is worth stg £32 billion to the UK each year. With such a strong market we at Clonmel Chamber decided that it worth investigating opportunities for our member companies in this area” said Brian Cleary, Chamber Chief Executive.
“We are currently in discussions with our counterparts in the UK on how best to leverage the arrangement and I hope that we will be able to introduce companies to potential clients in the UK on an individual basis or collectively in the very near future” he added.
The Chamber meetings with their counterparts in Reading were facilitated by Mayor Billy Shoer and Clonmel Borough Council as part of a group consisting of representatives from a number of local organisations who travelled to Clonmel's twinned town to develop ties and share best practice.
