Wicklow County Enterprise Awards 2010 is open to small businesses in the Wicklow region that employ 10 people or less. Wicklow County Enterprise Board promotes the development of enterprise in County Wicklow by focusing on the creation of enterprise awareness, encouraging new businesses to start up and supporting existing businesses to grow.
The County Enterprise Awards are an important part of the on-going enterprise awareness programme. The awards competition highlights
the contribution that small enterprises make to Ireland’s economic development and acknowledges their role in building a vibrant and
successful indigenous business sector. It acknowledges the energy and capabilities of Irish entrepreneurs and it offers an opportunity to
promote an optimistic and positive message for the future.
The competition is independently adjudicated and the selection Criteria include employment potential, marketing strength, financial
strength, innovation/technology and quality of business.
There are eight awards in total, an overall winner for Business of the Year and a further seven category winners:
Business of the Year
All entrants will automatically be entered into the competition for overall winner
Women in Business Award
Open to all businesses where the owner-manager is a woman
Green Business Award
Open to all businesses that incorporate green awareness in their business
Manufacturing Industries Award
Open to all businesses in the manufacturing sector, including creative industries
Services Industries Award
Open to all businesses in the services sector
Open to all businesses that are exporting (including to Northern Ireland)
“SYOB Programme” Business Award
Open to all businesses that have participated in the Wicklow CEB Start Your Own Business course in the past five years.
Wicklow CEB Client Company Award
The award winners will be announced on 5 June 2010 at a celebratory lunch with Senator Feargal Quinn as guest of honour.
Winners will receive a prize package that will include a laptop , business IT training, advertising with the Wicklow People, business mentoring and a handcrafted award.
Mentoring will be given by Tessa O’Connell, a management consultant and managing partner of Brand-Edge; Aidan Higgins, managing director of Adeo and a Wicklow-based management specialist and business mentor; and Lisa Cunningham, managing director of Vogue Business.
