Glasshammer Design was established in 1995 by artist and designer Michelle O' Donnell. The company specialises in the creation and manufacture of architectural glass art for both the domestic and commercial markets. A native of Donegal, Michelle trained in the Art College in Limerick and has a degree from the University of Ulster in Belfast. She quickly built her reputation as an original and innovative glass designer, producing one off corporate art for clients of Irish-based crystal companies in New York, Dallas, Boston, Belgium, and Paris. Her work covers a broad spectrum from internal architectural commissions to large public state bodies and is highly regarded both at home and abroad.
Originally based in a studio in the Liffey Trust building in Dublin, Glasshammer Design moved to Offaly after Michelle got married to husband Derek. With support and funding from Offaly County Enterprise Board, the couple bought a site near the village of Rhode, where they built a large, well equipped studio. Since the move, the company has built up a diverse portfolio, from large architectural glass projects for corporate headquarters, hotels and restaurants to commissions from individuals. Each piece of glass produced is a handcrafted original and the team is always developing new ideas and pushing the boundaries of art.
