Sligo Women in Business Network (SWIBN) has entered its tenth year in operation, having been founded by Sligo Local Enterprise Office in 2004. SWIBN, an independent network, was established to meet the professional development and networking needs of Sligo's community of businesswomen. The network has gone from strength to strength and boasts a two-hundred strong membership encompassing self-employed, managerial and industry professionals from around the county.

The CÉIM (Commercialising Entrepreneurial Ideas and Management Development) programme 2011 is once again inviting applications from people who wish to commercialise their knowledge or technology idea and take it to the next stage. The programme begins in June 2011 and closing date for applications is 13 May 2011. It runs at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) and Institute of Technology, Sligo (IT Sligo) campuses.
Sligo-based company, Quickcrop Ltd. will be the sixth and final winner of the 'Your Business on TV' competition to feature its products on the Shopping from Home series on RTE One this February. An online business, Quickcrop supports novice gardeners in achieving success from the outset, supplying a range of seeds, plants, raised beds and gardening products that can be delivered to the customer's door. The company also offers a consultancy service including full installation of a vegetable garden.
Green Works, the free education programme for jobseekers, has announced dates for more than 50 new courses taking place across Ireland in 2011. The courses, which focus on opportunities within the emergent Green Economy, will take place in the Green Works Hubs in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Tipperary between January and June of this year.
