St. Killian’s Candle Company, a Tipperary-based provider of religious candles, debuted its new smokeless candle in the US on St Patrick’s Day. The first US order for the green-friendly product was placed by New York’s venerable St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The institution selected St. Killian’s products as a cleaner, safer and more cost-effective alternative to the older-generation candles currently used by churches across the US. The order was secured with assistance from Enterprise Ireland’s New York office.
Green Works, the free education programme for jobseekers, has announced dates for more than 50 new courses taking place across Ireland in 2011. The courses, which focus on opportunities within the emergent Green Economy, will take place in the Green Works Hubs in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Tipperary between January and June of this year.
Ballyhoura Development Ltd. has announced a new initiative to aid prospective entrepreneurs from all over Ireland to set up successful and sustainable enterprises in the Ballyhoura Region and gain seed capital from investors. The “Ballyhoura Dragons” programme also marks the 21st anniversary of Ballyhoura Development Ltd.
“Ballyhoura Dragons” is open to entrepreneurs from all over the country who are interested in setting up a business in Ballyhoura or who have set up an enterprise with less than ten employees in the past 12 months. It will aim to give entrepreneurs access to experienced local and nationally recognised business people who will help them to develop their business. More than 90% of the programme cost will be subsidised by Ballyhoura Development Ltd. who are hoping to encourage entrepreneurs from across the country to set up their business in Ballyhoura.
Midwest Showcase 2010, a combined seminar and exhibition on entrepreneurship and innovation in the Midwest which will be held at Thomond Park, Limerick on Thursday 21st October, has just been launched. This is the first year of the Midwest Showcase and is a joint collaboration of a number of Networks and support agencies expanding the Enterprise Acceleration Centre (EAC) at Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) Showcase which has run successfully for the last 3 years.
The inaugural Mid-West Regional Business Week was launched by Counties Kerry, Clare, Limerick, North Tipperary and Limerick City Enterprise Boards in Adare, Co Limerick on Tuesday 15th September 2009.
Mid-West Regional Business Week will take place from Monday 5th – Friday 9th October 2009 with an extensive programme of seminars, workshops, networking events and expos addressing relevant business topics.
