Promotion of our website is designed to generate a steady steam of traffic to business-startup.ie with a high degree of relevance for our site advertisers. To this end, the promotional mix we are employing includes both an online marketing effort and also print advertising.

Online Marketing

Promotional efforts online are focused primarily on 1) Search Engine Optimisation and 2) Google AdWords.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. To this end, a large part of our marketing budget is directed at improving the listing position of our website in online search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Some of the most popular search phrases for people considering starting a business are "starting a business" and "business startup".

On Google Ireland we are ranked No.  for "starting a business" and No. 4 for "business startup" while on Yahoo Ireland we are ranked No.  and  No.   respectively. (Data correct as at 8th February 2010).
