All over the web, the papers and the Internet, one is constantly bombarded with advice on good web design, search engine optimization and what graphics to use on your website. While all three elements are incredibly important (I give talks and seminars on some of those topics), one of the least talked about areas is the content or copy that you have on your website.

The inaugural meeting of the KLCK (Kildare, Laois, Carlow, Kilkenny) Bloggers Network was recently held in the Clanard Court Hotel, Athy. The Network set up by Amanda Webb of Spiderworking.com (www.spiderworking.com) and Lorna Sixsmith of Garrendenny Lane Interiors (www.garrendennylane.ie) is designed to bring together businesses to share knowledge and help each other with their online presence. Amongst the attendees were those who write professionally, those with popular blogs, those who were just taking the first steps of blogging and those who were on the cusp of getting started.

Twitter generates almost one in ten Social Media global hits to websites according to web analytics firm, StatCounter. The firm’s research arm StatCounter Global Stats reports that Facebook is the primary source of traffic to global websites with almost half (48%) of Social Media hits followed by StumbleUpon with almost a quarter (25%).
The data for March is based on 13 billion page views across the global StatCounter network of member sites. StatCounter, which provides free website traffic information, has recently added Social Media to its StatCounter Global Stats, a free online research tool for media, analysts, bloggers, researchers and members. StatCounter Global Stats monitors Internet market share battles including Search Engines, Browsers, Operating Systems including mobile and now Social Media.

A unique business opportunity for SMEs and the Civil Security industry in Ireland, North and South, was launched on Wednesday 17th February 2010 at the European Commission in Dublin by Minister for Trade and Commerce, Billy Kelleher, T.D on behalf of InterTradeIreland.
InterTradeIreland, in association with INNOVATOR and the Centre for Irish and European Security has developed a new pilot initiative, the Innovation Connections Programme to help 60 SMEs to take advantage of the unmet and future needs of the Civil Security market. Through the programme, companies will participate in 2-day workshops in Cork, Galway, Dublin and Newry where they will be guided through pre-identified business opportunities and shown how they can develop new products, processes and services to avail of the opportunities in this high growth market.

InterTradeIreland has launched the newest phase of Acumen, its flagship sales programme, by giving 20 ambitious companies the opportunity to boost their cross-border sales through their Acumen sales graduate programme. They will match your company with the brightest graduates to help you identify new markets, develop your winning sales & marketing plan and increase your sales. Under this programme, InterTradeIreland will pay up to 50 percent of the graduate’s salary, to a value of €14,000, as well as giving financial assistance with equipment costs, travel and subsistence, recruitment and training.
